That was one of the many thoughts racing through our minds as Golden Ace passed the winning line at Cheltenham, along with:
Have she really done it?
Are we dreaming?
We have woken up this morning and checked the papers and we definitely were not dreaming; she actually did it. Golden Ace won the 2025 Unibet Champion Hurdle.
Just Fantastic. Words escape and we are in shock, during the race, she travelled well and jumped efficiently. When Constitution Hill fell, we checked he was up and galloping away before the next thought crossed our minds..."We could be third?"
As she approached the last, State Man was in front looking the winner, however Brighter Days Ahead looked tired and we were still full of running so second?!
Oh No!! State Man.
We are going to do it, she is going to win, she is clear and powering up the hill. Go Emily Go. Run and meet her!
What has just happened?!
Amazing, fantastic, brilliant, champion!
What a superb day, one that will live long in the memory of us all. Lorcan gave Ace a brilliant ride, thankfully she avoided being brought down by Constitution Hill and State Man and both horses and jockeys came home safely. I am delighted for Lorcan as it has not been the easiest season for us all, our horses were not really firing in the Autumn and into the Winter however they have come into themselves over the past 6 weeks, two trebles including Exeter on Friday and we are hitting form exactly when you need it!
Thank you Ian for being brave, to take on the big boys in The Champion Hurdle is a ambitious decision and ne we will forever be grateful for. We joked when Jeremy was pacing the room on declaration morning that we ought to film it ready for when she wins the Champion Hurdle, he will now have to recreate it!
As a family we are so proud of our excellent team of staff, jockeys, farriers, vets, physio, suppliers and thank you all for all your hard work and support. This is fully deserved success and the plaudits goes to all your endeavours. The cheers from our owners, friends, family and fans into the winners enclosure will live long in our memory. I did not think much would top last year, however this was superlative!
Oh, Jeremy Scott... Oh, Jeremy Scott
Rest assured, we celebrated yesterday, many thanks to The Bittescombe for hosting the team last night for some celebratory drinks! Thank you to everyone for the many messages to us all, hopefully we have managed to respond to everyone! What a fantastic day!!
