Premature end to the season

Updated: Apr 20, 2020

A frustrating premature end of the season, I thought we could have continued to race behind closed doors for a little bit longer and racing at Taunton on the final day of the 2019/20 season was bleak and morbid!

We had a fairly gopod season with 21 winners, Dashel Drasher ran well over fences, beaten by the eventual RSA winner at Newbury and winning at Haydock. He will be back next season, and we will try to get more experience into him over fences. Champagne Court won twice within 8 days in November and ran well in the Northern Trust Company Novices' Handicap Chase at Cheltenham on unsuitable ground. We were looking forward to Aintree or Punchestown with him how those plans are now on hold until the Autumn. It was fantastic to be there to cheer Rex into the winners enclosure for The Martin Pipe at the Cheltenham Festival, he never panicked when Plan A went out of the window and our Box was cheering him up the hill as he emerged out of the pack. he is a talented young jockey to keep on the right side of.

We had a couple of great days at Cheltenham being spoilt with the frequent runner prizes from the South West Jockey Club. It is brilliant way to thank our Owners and Vets who we would struggle without their support.

Native Robin was our final winner for the season under a great ride from Nick Scholfield.

We are now busy lambing, 500 odd sheep are our focus for the next few weeks as the horses enjoy an early summer holiday! We schooled the bumper horses over hurdles ready for the Autumn.

Hope everyone stays safe and we can get back racing soon!
