Two seconds at Exeter

25.2.17 - We were really pleased with the performances of both Blue April and Shoofly Milly at Exeter with both horses finishing second in their respective races.

Blue April’s run was the most encouraging to date. Under another good ride from Nick Scholfield, he took up the running turning into the home straight with three flights to go, and was headed at the last to go down four lengths to that grand veteran Baccalaureate.

Shoofly Milly ran in the 2m7f Prydis Handicap Hurdle where she produced another game performance to finish second.

Wincanton runners

17.2.2017 - There’s a decent card at Wincanton tomorrow where we head with three runners. Melodic Rendezvous is in the Grade 2 Betway Kingwell Hurdle, a race he won in 2014. It’s a very good race with runners including Yanworth, whose only defeat in his last seven runs was by Yorkhill in the Neptune Investment at Cheltenham.

The 2016 winner Rayvin Black, who was also narrowly beaten by Buveur D’Air when giving him 4lb in Sandown’s Betfred Contenders Hurdle to  is another contender.

Gonnabegood is in the two mile five furlong handicap hurdle ad Moolightflyer is in the “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle.

Hat trick-seeking Kid Kalanisi runs at Huntingdon today

9.2.2017 - Kid Kalanisi seeks a hat trick in the Six Nations Rugby at 188Bet Handicap Hurdle at Huntingdon today with Nick Scholfield in the saddle.

He’s creeping up in the weights having won a 3m1f handicap chase at Fontwell on Boxing Day, and followed up back over hurdles at Plumpton last month.

Threebarmymen is declared for tomorrow’s Winners Welcome at Matchbook Exchange Handicap Hurdle at Kempton, a competitive 20-runner race.

Day of Roses, who ran so promisingly at Fontwell last month to finish second in a  two mile five and a half furlong handicap hurdle, is entered at Uttoxeter on Saturday in the 2m3f novices’ handicap hurdle, and rather aptly, given her name, in a 2m3f handicap hurdle at Fontwell on Valentine’s Day.
