9.1.17 - We were so pleased that Blue April won the 2m1f handicap hurdle at Fontwell yesterday. Laura has been riding him out everyday, following her spinal injury in March and it’s a real tonic for her too.
It was his 15th attempt and he survived a stewards’ enquiry to win by a neck.
It was a good day for his jockey Nick Scholfield too who rode a double.
7.1.2018 - We were delighted that Miss Minuty followed up her recent course and distance win at Lingfield under 17-year-old Jason Watson winning the fillies' handicap. They took up the running with a furlong to go and one by a lenght and a quarter an we'll hopefully find her something similar soon.
Our two flat runners - Unison and Miss Minuty - have both been winners and it adds a bit of interest to this jumping game!
Today we run Blue April in the Racing Welfare Handicap Hurdle at Fontwell who returns to action after a break. Nick Scholfield rides.
4.1.18 - Ellen's Way defied a 7lb penalty at Ludlow yesterday to win the mares' handicap hurdle for her owners the Bet The Farm Partners.
She was 5lbs well in following her Boxing Day win at Fontwell and was sent off the evens favourite under Matt Griffiths who drove her out for a neck win from Sainte Ladylime.
That's two on the bounce for her and she deserves a break now.
1.1.2018 - Happy New Year from us all at Holworthy Farm!
Native Robin landed the LPS Handicap Chase at Warwick yesterday under a super ride from Nick Scholfield. He took up the lead after the last and went away from the field to win by a comfortable two and three quarters of a length. We’ve brought him back very slowly as he had a touch of a leg, and its taken a couple of runs to get him spot on. We’re delighted with how he coped with the heavy ground and hopefully he’s back to where he was before he was injured.
The weather is taking its toll on racing with more storms and heavy rain forecast. Hopefully the reprieve forecast for this weekend rings true.
Tomorrow Ellen’s Way is declared to run in the 1871 Mares’ Handicap at Ludlow where Jack Snipe will run in the ROA/Racing Post Owners Jackpot Excellence Hands and Heels Handicap Chase.
Ellen’s Way scored a lovely win at Fontwell on Saturday and she carries a 7lb penalty for that success. We’re hopeful of another decent performance.
Jack Snipe unseated last time at Plumpton when holding the advantage at the time and we’re hopeful of a clear round this time.
