Higher Holworthy Farm comprises 360 acres of rolling farmland with quiet country lanes, woods and moorland close by so boredom is never a factor for horses trained there.
Whether they work up the all-weather gallop, school in the jumping ring, or have a spin along one of the many grass gallops, there’s plenty of variety to keep the horses cheerful. From the day horses arrive at Holworthy Farm, they are encouraged to enjoy life, become a plesant horse to ride and this resulted in our horses becoming extremely adaptable at the end of their racing careers. We have rehomed horses to a variety of homes, from hacking to hunting, dressage and eventing to falconary and TREC.
Treborough Cross Country course is nearby, and the horses will often go there to pop over the solid timber fences, which is great for their jumping education, and good fun for their riders too.
Horses are all individual characters. Some like a box with a lake view, others like a neighbour on each side, and some like to be alone. Whatever their preference, they will be swapped about until they are happy and relaxed in their environment. There are also plenty of turn out paddocks for a kick and a play.
The team at Higher Holworthy Farm plays an integral part in the yard’s success and each member of staff is an experienced horseman with an in-depth knowledge of horses and their welfare.
